The Priestal Chambers Empty
PostSubject: The Priestal Chambers   The Priestal Chambers I_icon_minitimeSun May 07, 2017 2:13 am

The centre of the Lancastrian Throne sits the High Square; an elaborate, 1000 square meter town square, dotted with ancient pillars depicting the ancient heroes of old. Statues of Arron, as well as the former High Priests, sit tidily in a row through the centre of the Square.
The statues separate the Square into 2 sections; the West and East. The Eastern Square is left empty; with its floors coated with the grandest mosaics one could buy, and the finest prayer rugs draped onto the Square. Reserved for morning, afternoon and night prayer only, by day it is used as a parade ground for the Papal Guard, an elite unit which defends the High Priest. Every march is synchronised perfectly, and they bear the Flag of Lancastria.
The West Square is dotted with people and citizens. The markets, selling foodstuffs or other items are set up there, benches for people to sit down and eat, and fountains to drink. Several patches of grass offer a bit of nature to the urban land. The Square is floored by a very unique tiling pattern; each tile has the face of a Priest on it, engraved to the stone. No two tiles are alike, and tourists travel far and wide to see the great Square and what lies within.
The Great Basilica, and behind it, the Priestal Chambers, where the High Priest resides.
The Basilica towers into the sky, being the tallest structure in the very city. 1 very concentric dome, towering up high, blocks the sunlight. At the centre of the dome is a round window, which lets sunlight pass through from the back of the Basilica to the front. As per tradition, when the light from the dome shines upon the statue of Arron (typically 9am), it is time for mass.
Inside the basilica is the grandest church of all levels. Pews made from the finest Kakush wood (cedar), with engravings of flowery patterns and faces on the sides. It is upholder by several massive pillars, so large that each could house a person within. The altar is made of pure gold and silver, shining constantly, and the candles, incense sticks, and priests themselves are of the highest level.
Only the Bishops and the High Priest may be allowed to operate the Basilica. As per tradition, a bell tower tolls, signifying the opening of the Basilica for mass. However it is only open once a week; the other 6 days are for restoring the fine mosaics and stained windows.
The dome itself holds a balcony, connected to the Chambers. Every day, the Pope rises and stands on the balcony, preparing mass for the people at the Eastern Square.
As the people sit on the mats and listen to the Rites of Lancastria.

The Basilica, Lancastria
The High Priest is standing behind the altar. He is delivering the daily rites to the believers of the High Church; who sit down on the fine wooden pews of the Basilica, listening.
"May we begin the First Prayer. All kneel."
The congregation kneels and recites a verse in unison.
"Our God in the Spiritual World, hear your subject's humble words as I mutter them out of my humble mouth. May our sins, which we commit be cleansed, and may we atone for our wrongs to your Realm. The spirits of us are all subjects of your Realm; the almighty and powerful. May your guidance lead us to the light path, and stand clear of sin in the future."
The High Priest nods and finishes the prayer.
"May he hand out the Holy Book; the Lancostry, the book in which our Highness has written his sayings."
A group of priests, led by armoured guards, hold up a fabric square. On the square, lies the Lancostry; so holy that no one could touch it with their bare hand. As per tradition, a golden stick is used to turn the pages.
"Please sit."
The congregation sits.
"The High Gods once ruled the lands. May we be blessed."
"May we be blessed.", the congregation chants.
"As Charon, the Holy Warrior, takes out his holy sword, the Mycellius..."
The armoured guards unsheathe their swords, hold it downwards and stand over a watery pool in a circle.
"...he finds the souls and the blood of his enemies, all washed in the blade. His holiness, that is unparalleled as a saint, makes him strike his sword in a pool of water near his shack. the humble waters of his pool were then christened, as the souls and blood of the water were transferred from the blade..."
The guards strike their swords into the water. Splashes of water drop onto the floor.
"...to the water. The Blessed, Eris, drinks from the pool, granting him..."
The guards repeat the action again.
"...eternal torment, for his greed, thinking that the pool contains good. His temptation led to sin, and he will now live in each and every one of you, from the trapped souls inside his own."
The congregation nods.
"The Rites have been delivered. May you all return blessed."
The congregation silently leaves.

"My Holiness!", screamed a Cardinal, running towards the High Priest as he finishes the Rites. "The Square is on fire, by Liege!"
"What?", shouted the High priest in surprise. "How? Where? WHEN!?!?"
"Just now, sir. Someone threw down the Torch of the Royal Fire from the Statue of Arch! It set the square ablaze!"
He runs towards one of the stained windows. What the cardinal said was true; the square was indeed on fire. The Statue of Arch holds a large torch of fire and brimstone. Inclement weather caused the torch to collapse onto the square, setting it alight.
"Call City Garrison."
